Under the Second Cycle of debates : Portugal and the paths of the future , lawyers of Cavaleiro & Associados, João Quintela Cavaleiro e Pedro Seixas Silva participated on April 11 at “Cais da Villa” in a debate on the theme : Lines for future of Justice . With the presence of the President of the Bar Association, Dra. Elina Fraga, and the former President of the Bar, Dr. António Marinho Pinto and moderation by journalist Miguel Cabral.

João Cavaleiro has released some challenges to the guest table, notably “justice as a pillar of the rule of law”, the “link between lawyers and politics “, the “quality and quantity of legislative output in Portugal” , among other topics.

The President of the Bar Association, Dr. Elina Fraga presented an intervention about the new judicial map. She stressed that it can become an obstacle to attracting investment to the country , because a company hardly will be located in the county seat where they can not collect their debts. About whether there are too many laws in Portugal , the former President, Dr. Marinho Pinto realized a study which showed that in the tax laws after April 25, 1974, have suffered more than 1,000 changes.

Participants posed questions to the guests , and the President os the Bar emphasized that Portugal needs “a civic jolt” of consciousness to the public cause.
